The Magento 2 frontend used to be a pain point for merchants and developers alike. That changed when Willem Wigman started developing Hyvä three years ago. With the support of a dedicated team, a growing community, and ongoing contributions, Hyvä has now grown into powering 4,250+ high-performing web stores worldwide and bringing together 7,850 developers.
Let’s be honest, before Hyvä, the future of Magento Open Source looked uncertain. And while Adobe, the owner of Magento, continues to maintain security and performance updates, there are no public plans for new Open Source features. That’s why Hyvä’s recent announcement of Hyvä Commerce is so important.
This new suite is designed to meet the needs of modern merchants. It includes powerful tools for store administrators, enhanced features for shoppers, and a long-term vision for evolving the Magento ecosystem. And it’s made possible thanks to community collaboration, trusted partners, and the support of a new strategic ally Mollie.
Real-World Examples from Meet Magento Netherlands 2024
One highlight was the case study of Zitmaxx Wonen, a blazing-fast web store built on Hyvä. Despite using advanced third-party tools such as product recommendations and real-time monitoring, the store still achieved outstanding Core Web Vitals performance. That’s synergy in action, technologies work together instead of against each other.
Another inspiring example came from Winezja.pl, a wine marketplace with advanced checkout modifications for suppliers on Hyvä Checkout, which was developed in 1 Month. Winezja is one of the biggest wine producers and importers in Central and East Europe. They sell 4 million bottles per month and have 3000 products and wine sets in the catalog. So launching such a complex project isn't a piece of cake but due to Hyvä Checkout they could save a lot of time on development, as some tasks instead of days took less than an hour.
